The ONLY method of obtaining a CPD/CME certificate is online upon completion of the CPD/CME evaluation via Survey Monkey as outlined below.

When you have completed your evaluation, you must press “CTRL + P” (Windows) or “CMD + P” (Mac) on your keypad in order to save and print your certificate.

We are delighted you will be attending BritSpine 2014 at the University of Warwick. We hope that the information provided in this document will help you get the most from this event. Please bring these instructions with you as you will find them useful whilst you are on campus.

The University of Warwick is only 3 miles from Coventry city centre and is sited at the hub of the central motorway network. The towns of Warwick, Stratford-upon-Avon and Leamington are close by.


Getting to the University of Warwick


The Conference Park is on the main campus of the University of Warwick located on the outskirts of Coventry and is easily accessible by road, rail and air. You can download further information from the website at following the link ‘how to find us’. The Conference Park is the name given to the facilities provided by Warwick Conferences on the main University campus.


Coventry Intercity station is only 4 miles from the University. A taxi will cost approximately £11.00 from Coventry station to the University campus. Birmingham International railway station is also close to campus and a taxi from this location will cost approximately £27.00.
The number 12 bus runs from Coventry bus station via Coventry train station to the University.


Accommodation will be in Arthur Vick or Jack Martin Houses (you will be informed at the time of key collection). Delegates staying in Radcliffe and Scarman Houses will already have been notified of the house in which they are staying.


Bedroom check in/out

Bedroom keys will be available from 15.00-23.00 at the Student Union Building which is adjacent to Costa Coffee on main campus.
If you plan to arrive after 23.00, keys will be available from the Main Gatehouse. Once Conference Reception is closed there is clear signage on the main door explaining the process for late arrivals.
Rooms need to be vacated by 09.30 on your day of departure. Please inform Conference Reception on arrival of any difficulties you may have in the unlikely event of an evacuation from your accommodation (eg, hearing or mobility difficulties).
Each delegate will have access to a kitchen although this may not be directly adjacent to their bedrooms. Please note these areas will not contain any cooking equipment or utensils.



You will be provided with one key which will access your room and entry door to the residence. Keys can be left at Conference Reception, Rootes Restaurant (in Rootes Building) or one of the boxes situated in the entrance halls of each residence on the day of your departure.


Car Parking
Complimentary car parking is available for delegates in the allocated car parks on campus (7, 8, 8a and 15). On entering the car park, take the token from the machine which you can then validate at Conference Reception (please note that in CP8a and 8 there is no token machine, but delegates are permitted to park in this car park without needing to pay and display). Disabled parking spaces are available close to the entrance of main buildings.
As a university campus, from time-to-time, these car parks become full and when this happens, alternative parking will be available which you will be directed to. We advise that you allow sufficient time, for up to a 10-minute walk to get to your destination on the Conference Park from the car parks. Some of the car parks are not adjacent to the registration and accommodation areas.


It is, therefore, advisable that once you have parked, you take your luggage to Conference Reception where you will be able to leave it with the team in the left luggage facility. BritSpine staff at the registration desk will provide further information regarding car parking arrangements.


Minibuses and high-sided vehicles can park on the ground floor (outside section) of Car Park 15. It would be advisable to let us know of your requirement for specific car parking, as most of the University car parks are multi-storey.


Cash Machines
There are branches of Barclays and Santander. Both have cash machines in the Student Union Building (directly next to Rootes Building).


Conference Registration – BritSpine 2014

Tuesday, 1st April - Cadaveric Workshop

Registration will take place in the University Conference Reception between the hours of 08.30-09.00.
The Cadaveric Workshop day is by invitation only and is NOT open to all delegates. Those invited onto the course will have been notified prior to the start of the event.

Wednesday, 2nd-Friday, 4th April - BritSpine 2014

Registration will take place on the Mezzanine level within the Warwick Arts Centre and will be open from 08.00 each day.


Disability Services
The University of Warwick aims to be accessible and welcoming to everyone and are committed to making your visit as easy and enjoyable as possible. If you have any particular requirements, please let us know. Mobility scooters are available for conference delegates.


Electrical Supply
Electricity is supplied at 220/240v and 50 cycles AC. Most international appliances will require an adaptor or transformer. Adaptors are available to buy at Costcutter supermarket.


Food and Drink
Meals are provided in Rootes Restaurant located on the 1st floor of Rootes Building for delegates staying in either Arthur Vick or James Martin accommodation. The restaurant offers an assisted style service for breakfast and dinner including a range of hot and cold drinks. Please have your conference badge or room key with you to gain access to the restaurant. If you have any special dietary requirements and you have not already indicated this at the time of online registration, please inform Archer Yates Associates in advance.
For guests staying in Scarman and Radcliffe Houses, breakfast ONLY is included within their package. Breakfast is taken in the relevant house restaurant. Dinner, if required, may be purchased from the same restaurant at an additional cost.
The bar is located on the 1st floor of Rootes Building and is the ideal place to network and relax after a day’s session. There are also alternative bars in the Warwick Arts Centre and Student Union building. Payment for all sundry items is by cash or credit card only.


Please contact Conference Reception on 02476 522280 who will ensure a message is passed on to us. The University does not have a resident doctor available for delegates, but in the event of medical attention being required, this can be done via the 24-hour Security Team on 02476 522083. Alternatively, there is a Walk-In Medical Centre in Coventry.


Internet Access
You can access the Wi-Fi network by requesting a log-in code at the registration desk or any of the information points around campus. Please note that if you want to access the Internet on more than one hand-held device, you will require two or more log-in codes.


Laundry Facilities
The launderette is situated between Rootes Building and Rootes residences. Opening times are available from Conference Reception for self-service washing and drying. There are also laundry facilities available in some of the residences. All machines require the correct change and you will need to provide your own washing powder and fabric softener.


Religious Services
The Chaplaincy is a vibrant space for all members of the University community and visitors. To gain access to the Chaplaincy, please ask at Conference Reception for details.

Shops, Banks, Cafés and Bars
The campus has many facilities available to all delegates. For all information and opening times please see the website


University signage is positioned around campus highlighting all academic buildings and social spaces – they are white rectangular blocks.

Warwick Conferences/Conference Park signage are swing signs and are used to highlight car parking spaces and spaces used for conferences.

Look out for the BritSpine signage.


Sports Facilities
Delegates have use of some of the comprehensive sports facilities, including swimming and fitness suite, free of charge. Other facilities are available for a nominal charge which will need to be booked in advance. Details and opening times are available at Conference Reception or by visiting the website below. Delegates need to present their bedroom key at Conference Reception to gain access. See for more information.


Taxis are available on Health Centre Road opposite Warwick Arts Centre and the Conference Reception at most times of the day. Alternatively, you can contact University Conference Reception for more information and relevant phone numbers.


University Conference Reception
This is located in the Student Union building which is adjacent to Costa Coffee on main campus. The Conference Reception team are available to answer your queries between 07.00-23.00. Here you can also:
- Collect general information
- Arrange for secure luggage storage
- Validate your car parking token
- Arrange your log-in codes for Wi-Fi whilst on campus
- Ask about any lost property
- Request additional bedroom supplies such as pillows, blankets or a clock radio


Useful items to bring

  • An umbrella as you will be required to walk between some buildings
  • Ethernet cable (also known as Cat5 or RJ45); preferred length to be 3 metres due to the location of the network point within the accommodation areas although wireless is also available in all accommodation areas
  • Sports equipment you may require during your stay
  • Additional towels for use in the Sports Centre
  • Suitable clothing and footwear
  • Phone charger

Car parking
Once you arrive on campus please look out for the green Warwick
Conferences signage to direct you to the car parks and conference venues.

Full papers of work previously presented at a BritSpine conference or the annual meetings of BASS, BSS or SBPR can be submitted for peer review through the European Spine Journal Editorial Manager after 15th October 2013.

Accepted abstracts and full papers will be published in the BritSpine 2014 Special Supplement of the European Spine Journal on 1st April 2014.
